Too many animals still suffer an excruciating death in gas chambers, or due to being euthanized by non qualified staff.

Both dogs and cats are stuffed in metal boxes which them get sealed and filled up with poisonous gas. The animals should be sedated first but this doesn't occur. They die a slow excruciating death, sometimes agonizing for several minutes. It is not uncommon for young and old animals survive this horrific procedure, to be gassed again or killed in another way."

Heartbreaking Cruelty - Dog Tied up like in a Crucifixtion - Limassol Cyprus - The Petition Site

On 21/05/2008 an English resident in Limassol Cyprus rang Argos Sanctuary to report that a dog was tied up (like in a crucifixtion) above his balcony in Limassol from 5.15am until 11.15am.
Argos immediately reported it to the local police and the police went to the flat but by that time the dog had been moved inside the apartment. As the police found the dog inside they could not prove who it was that had tied the dog to the balcony. The Police spoke to the dog owner and as there was not enough proof who had actually commited this terrible act, they said nothing could be done.

Argos Sanctuary decided to take the case to court but the police closed it due to lack of evidence. The President of Argos had a meeting on 05/08/08 with the Ministry to reopen the case and they now need your support.

This poor creature is still with the owners who subjected it to this horrific cruelty and God only knows what other acts of cruelty it has been subjected to since.

We desperately need your support to prioritise this case so they can save this tortured animal and prosecute the owners.

'Ultra-fine' wool growers supply an elite international market and wealthy buyers from the world's foremost fashion houses.

Ultra-fine wool growing is an intensive animal industry. Specially-bred sheep are kept indoors in individual small pens 24 hours a day for four or five years. Nylon coats are worn by the 'shedded' sheep to further ensure that dust and dirt does not enter their fleece -- and, like every other intensive animal industry, the behavioural and social needs of the sheep, intrinsic factors which provide quality of life, are completely ignored.

The impacts of chronic stress caused by an inappropriate environment are obvious. The confined sheep continually chew on the wooden slats and strands of wire which enclose them. Repetitive body movements were also observed - classic stereotypic behaviours caused by a barren environment (which leads to chronic boredom), combined with the inability to exercise, or to perform simple natural behaviours such as the ability to graze on grass.

RSPCA officers consider Peanut's prolonged mutilation to be
one of the worst cases in Australian history. Even police were
sickened when they viewed videophone images of the ordeal.

The violent slaughter of this defenceless animal was recorded on a mobile phone. Peanut was slashed with garden shears and a pocketknife --
severing his nose, a front leg, rear leg and finally, his head. During the
video's last segment, Peanut's amputated body parts are displayed.

The bylaw will prohibit the owning of more than 'two of a kind' pet. Excess pets will be forcibly removed, and as the animal shelters are already swamped with rescued dogs and cats these dogs and cats will be euthanised!

A 'blanket' approach like this also targets decent, caring, loving pet owners, instead of concentrating on the actual problem areas. The problem is not with pet lovers, the problem is in the economically disadvantaged areas. The public funds mass animals sterilisation clinics. Instead of passing a horrific law like this, the council should rather fund these clinics. In addition the tax payers' money will be better spent on the policing of cruelty to animals than attempting the forced removal of loved and cared for 'excess' pets!

Civil violence is a real possibility. The newspapers are filled with comments from pet owners who will fight to the death anyone who attempts to remove their cared for pets.

This is proposed murder of pets on an unimaginable scale! How can this happen in a civillised society?
