Our aim is to stop animal tests all around the world. But when we look inside this center we can see that same Persons which are working for DPZ Prof. Dr. med. vet.l Franz-Josef Kaup and Dr. med. vet. Christiane Stahl-Hennig, are also the ones supposed to control the institute according to the Animal Protection Act! This is ridiculous! They are also responsible and in control of the attrocity made in the center. They buy, sell and breed Monkeys for all kinds of tests. They provide other institutes with samples of vivo as well as post mortem sample materials! The content of the WebPages also shows the closed relation amongst zoos and such Institutes as DPZ.

Em audiência com o Presidente da Assembleia da República, ANIMAL entrega, nesta 5.ª feira, petição com 18.000 assinaturas reclamando ao Parlamento que estabeleça um código de protecção dos animais moderno, eficaz, progressista e justo

Nesta 5.ª feira, 23 de Outubro, às 12h, a Direcção da ANIMAL será recebida no Parlamento, numa audiência com o Presidente da Assembleia da República, a quem entregará formalmente a “Petição Por Um Código de Protecção dos Animais Moderno, Eficaz, Progressista e Justo”, que reclama ao Parlamento que aprove e estabeleça uma nova lei de protecção dos animais em Portugal, formulada enquanto Código de Protecção dos Animais e redigida e concebida em função do proposto no “Manifesto ANIMAL – Proposta Orientadora para um Código Português de Protecção dos Animais”, documento preparado também pela ANIMAL e apresentado por esta organização aos seis grupos parlamentares na Assembleia da República há cerca de um ano.

A petição, que reuniu até ao momento 18.000 subscritores, é a mais forte reclamação alguma vez dirigida ao legislador português acerca de matérias relativas à protecção dos animais, dado que se trata de uma petição em que não se pede apenas uma medida específica e isolada mas sim todo um conjunto de medidas legislativas de protecção dos animais de Portugal integradas numa lei que condense, agilize, modernize, reforce fortemente, torne mais justo e clarifique o estatuto de protecção jurídica dos animais e que defina, de forma clara, concreta e restritiva as implicações práticas, em termos de normas reguladoras, proibições, obrigações, sanções e procedimentos, que um tal estatuto deve estabelecer.

“É justamente porque se trata de uma petição tão completa, que apoia uma proposta que é também um caderno reivindicativo muito forte e exigente, ao mesmo tempo que razoável e realista, que reputamos a adesão a esta petição como sendo extraordinariamente importante e louvável. É mais uma prova, que vem corroborar tantas outras, nomeadamente os impressionantes resultados do estudo «Valores e Atitudes dos Portugueses Face à Protecção dos Animais», de que as cidadãs e os cidadãos portugueses querem que o Estado Português mude de atitude em relação aos animais do nosso país, passando a tornar-se um seu defensor e zelador, ao invés de continuar a destinar-lhes a indiferença ou a infligir-lhes danos, como até aqui tem feito. O Estado não tem sido uma pessoa de bem nesta área e é tempo de o passar a ser. Cabe ao Parlamento fazer com que assim seja”, afirmou Rita Silva, Vice-Presidente da ANIMAL.

Para Miguel Moutinho, Presidente da ANIMAL, “este é o tempo da mudança. Estamos no início de um novo ano parlamentar. Há um ano que o “Manifesto ANIMAL” se encontra com os grupos parlamentares, para análise e reflexão deste compreensivo documento. Agora, é tempo dos grupos parlamentares e dos deputados passarem à acção legislativa efectiva neste domínio, tendo um bom documento de base como útil suporte para poderem produzir a lei de protecção de que os animais de Portugal precisam e que os portugueses querem ver implementada. Além disso, a um ano de eleições, é importante que os líderes políticos e parlamentares, assim como cada deputado, compreenda que o que for feito nesta matéria nos tempos mais imediatos virá, sem dúvida alguma, a definir o sentido de voto de muitas portuguesas e de muitos portugueses que querem ver finalmente satisfeito o seu desejo de viver num país que respeita e protege minimamente os seus animais e que, nesse sentido, querem que os seus representantes eleitos tomem as medidas que reflictam esse desejo.”

Além destas 18.000 assinaturas, o “Manifesto ANIMAL” e a reclamação legislativa de um código de protecção dos animais têm sido apoiados de maneiras muito diferentes, todas elas vindo reforçar o caso a favor da tomada desta medida. A título de exemplo, é de referir que, até ao momento, mais de 10.000 mensagens de e-mail foram endereçadas, ao longo de um ano, ao Presidente da Assembleia da República, pedindo ao Parlamento que tomasse a medida que agora é ainda mais expressamente instado a tomar. Também os líderes parlamentares receberam milhares de mensagens no mesmo sentido ao longo deste ano, tendo outras mensagens seguido igualmente para as direcções dos seis partidos com assento parlamentar. Acresce que, simbolicamente, através do site da campanha, www.ManifestoANIMAL.org, tanto na versão portuguesa quanto na inglesa deste site, um total conjunto de 10.120 pessoas registaram, até ao momento presente, o seu apoio a estas reclamações, enquanto 11.114 pessoas subscreveram as duas petições online (portuguesa e inglesa) a favor destas reclamações – que, apesar de não serem formalmente válidas, têm um importante valor simbólico.

“A audiência com o Senhor Presidente da Assembleia da República marcará o arranque definitivo da segunda fase desta campanha, durante a qual nos esforçaremos por trabalhar com os grupos parlamentares e com os parlamentares para que efectivamente o actual estado de coisas neste campo mude de forma muito importante. A protecção dos animais é, hoje, uma questão política porque é extremamente relevante do ponto de vista social, além da importância moral de que inequivocamente se reveste. O Parlamento deve reconhecê-lo e, desse reconhecimento, deve finalmente surgir uma forte e importante consequência prática de natureza legislativa”, defende o Presidente da ANIMAL.
