Don't Let Another Bear Cub Die in Russia's Hibernating Bear Hunt - The Petition Site
It's hard to imagine the cruelty of the Russian winter bear hunt.
A mother bear is violently shaken from her winter hibernation, forced out of her den, and shot by a wealthy trophy hunter. She dies bravely protecting her den, while inside her tiny and defenseless cubs are left motherless. It's heartbreaking to think of the cubs orphaned and left to slowly freeze to death.
Each year, den hunting leaves up to 4,000 cubs motherless. Some of these homeless cubs end up as pets to local villagers, while others are taken to entertain tourists or be eaten in restaurants. Most are abandoned and left to die.
Brown bears in Russia are one of the last remaining healthy brown bear populations in the world -- Tell Russia to outlaw den hunting.

Tell Iraq to Stop the Inhumane Killing of Dogs - The Petition Site
Help SPCA International Tell the Iraq Government to Find Humane Solutions! (http://www.spca.com/)
200 dogs were killed by inhumane measures in Baghdad, Iraq on Sunday, marking the beginning of a government campaign to reduce the animal overpopulation problem that plagues the country. These drastic actions were taken in response to a local public outcry for officials to do something about the stray packs of dogs that can cause human health and safety problems.
SPCA International adamantly condemns the inhumane methods employed in the campaign, including using poisoned meat and rifles. These means cause extreme and prolonged agony. There are humane alternatives that have proven effective and SPCA International encourages the Iraqi government to immediately stop the inhumane killing and implement humane methods.
Today, SPCA International began an effort to reach out to Iraqi officials to offer help in developing a more humane and long-lasting solution to the country's stray animal problem.
"Killing strays alone is merely a band-aid approach to reducing the number of unwanted dogs," says SPCA International Director of Communications, Stephanie Scroggs. "In order to better manage any stray animal population a combination of tactics must be used including spay and neuter, vaccinating healthy animals and euthanizing those that are sick or aggressive."
SPCA International, and others in the animal welfare movement, know that this 3-pronged approach works. Without this combination of solutions, the Iraq stray population will never be controllable and the inhumane practices currently being used will continue.
Take Action: Tell the Park Service to Protect Yellowstone's Buffalo!: "Tell the Park Service to Protect Yellowstone's Buffalo!
We must halt the annual massacre of Yellowstone's buffalo by the National Park Service and Montana's Department of Livestock. It is unconscionable that more than 1,400 buffalo from America's last wild, free-roaming herd were sent to the slaughterhouse this past winter. Tell the National Park Service to be the guardian of our country's wild bison by putting a new, more compassionate plan in place!"

The Norwegian fur industry is continuously trying to present fur farming as unproblematic. During the summer of 2008 activists from Network for Animal Freedom traveled the country to see how the farm animals are actually treated. We inspected more than 100 randomly chosen fur farms in every county where such farms exist, covering over 20 percent of the fur farms in Norway.

animals at puppy farms, along with stricter sentencing for the offenders and the complete band of puppy farms and the band of selling dogs at pet shops or stricter laws concerning the sale of dogs in Pet Shops."
Nationwide Ban on Gassing in Shelters - The Petition Site: "Currently there are a number of laws which to varying degrees protect the rights of animals in shelters but we need a centralized approach. Too many animals still suffer an excruciating death in gas chambers, or due to being euthanized by non qualified staff.
Both dogs and cats are stuffed in metal boxes which them get sealed and filled up with poisonous gas. The animals should be sedated first but this doesn't occur. They die a slow excruciating death, sometimes agonizing for several minutes. It is not uncommon for young and old animals survive this horrific procedure, to be gassed again or killed in another way."

Save the Homeless and Abused Animals of Egypt - The Petition Site: "Unlike America, Cairo's animal welfare is slim to none, despite a long history of attention to animal welfare by Islamic law, modern Egypt has failed to care properly for its animal citizens. Images of dogs and cats living and dying on the streets in huge numbers, and malnourished horses and donkeys pulling excessively heavy carts confront tourists and residents every day"

Heartbreaking Cruelty - Dog Tied up like in a Crucifixtion - Limassol Cyprus - The Petition Site
On 21/05/2008 an English resident in Limassol Cyprus rang Argos Sanctuary to report that a dog was tied up (like in a crucifixtion) above his balcony in Limassol from 5.15am until 11.15am.
Argos immediately reported it to the local police and the police went to the flat but by that time the dog had been moved inside the apartment. As the police found the dog inside they could not prove who it was that had tied the dog to the balcony. The Police spoke to the dog owner and as there was not enough proof who had actually commited this terrible act, they said nothing could be done.
Argos Sanctuary decided to take the case to court but the police closed it due to lack of evidence. The President of Argos had a meeting on 05/08/08 with the Ministry to reopen the case and they now need your support.
This poor creature is still with the owners who subjected it to this horrific cruelty and God only knows what other acts of cruelty it has been subjected to since.
We desperately need your support to prioritise this case so they can save this tortured animal and prosecute the owners.

Save Philadelphia's Animals - The Petition Site: "We, the Citizens for a No-Kill Philadelphia, believe that Philadelphia Animal Care and Control (PACCA) should maintain the animal control contract. According to the ASPCA, Best Friends Animal Society and The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, cooperative partnerships are the best way to achieve substantial lifesaving. Right now, all of Philadelphia's shelters cannot keep pace with the increasing numbers of homeless animals."

The dog was tied up so he was unable to move. Combo Aguilar, first tortured the animal in front of the group. After torturing the dog he stabbed the innocent dog many times on the head. The dog was still alive and crying in despair and pain, so Lt. Combo Aguilar grabbed his machete and decapitated the dog. Then he removed the heart of the poor dog , while holding the heart he rubbed it on the faces of some of the soldiers and he asked one of them to bite it."

More videos from Animals Australia
Recent investigations have revealed a 'growing' animal industry that the vast majority of Australians would be unaware of.
'Ultra-fine' wool growers supply an elite international market and wealthy buyers from the world's foremost fashion houses.
Ultra-fine wool growing is an intensive animal industry. Specially-bred sheep are kept indoors in individual small pens 24 hours a day for four or five years. Nylon coats are worn by the 'shedded' sheep to further ensure that dust and dirt does not enter their fleece -- and, like every other intensive animal industry, the behavioural and social needs of the sheep, intrinsic factors which provide quality of life, are completely ignored.
The impacts of chronic stress caused by an inappropriate environment are obvious. The confined sheep continually chew on the wooden slats and strands of wire which enclose them. Repetitive body movements were also observed - classic stereotypic behaviours caused by a barren environment (which leads to chronic boredom), combined with the inability to exercise, or to perform simple natural behaviours such as the ability to graze on grass.
Cat Burned with Gasoline on Halloween - The Petition Site: "We the undersigned ask that you prosecute the young men involved in this torture as adults. Please realize the seriousness of this horrific deed and punish these young men to the fullest extent of the law. Thank you for your consideration and for helping to protect all of our community from additional abuse."
